Listening Events
We know how important it is to feel heard. As midwives we listen sensitively with expert knowledge, providing information and ongoing support for parents. Mothers have the opportunity to share their experience and connect with others who have similar experiences.
After three years of hosting regular listening sessions, we have listened to over 80 mothers and gained an incredible amount of knowledge and insight. These sessions have been an invaluable resource for families and service providers alike, allowing parents to discuss important issues such as Raised Blood Pressure in Pregnancy, Pelvic Health, Vaginal Birth After Caesarean Section.
We use the experiences of mothers from diverse communities, anonymously and with consent, to feed back directly into NHS services, research projects, charitable organisations (to name a few). Delivering the voices of mothers helps to create change; it isinvaluable insight for services and crucial for improving maternity care.
Although our funding for regular listening events has ended, we still offer ad-hoc sessions. If you are parent wanting to attend a listening event, please visit our facebook events to see what is coming up. Additionally we continue to offer 1-1 chats with families who need them and we encourage people to join our Facebook support group .
If you are an organisation wanting us to host a listening event we do require compensation to cover the time and delivery of the session. The session will be tailored to your aims and objectives, but will provide a space for mothers to be heard and receive impartial information and ongoing support.
